Garnier Moisture Match Freebies

Afternoon ladies (and gents!)
I'm probably one of many that are reviewing these bad boys as of late as Garnier are giving away LOADS of free samples, so if you haven't got your own yet then hurry!
Moisture Match are a new collection of moisturisers that are tailor made to your skin, whether that be super dry, dull or oily. I don't know about you but I rejoiced that, finally, a company had latched on to the fact that not everyone has the same skin and made products solely to accommodate me.

There are 5 moisturisers in total and they differ in skin type, texture and results. I got three samples in my pack which included Protect and Glow, Start Afresh, and Goodbye Dry. The remaining 2 include Wake Me Up, a gel that's meant to leave you fresh faced and hydrated, and Shine Be Gone, a lightweight cream that helps reduce that irritating glare because an oily face isn't a happy one.

Goodbye Dry

This is tailored for those who have dry/ very dry skin. Unfortunately, this is me all over so it's the first sample that I used.
What does it do? Pretty straightforward here, it's meant to hydrate super tight and flaky faces. It claims to work instantly, easily absorb into your skin and keep it watered for up to 24 hours after usage.
What's in it? Camellia oil which is a tea seed oil and also Mannose. Mannose is a sugar monomer which helps prevent water loss, thus making this the perfect ingredient in this moisturiser for dry skin.
The texture? This seems to be a massive selling point in the Moisture Match range and Garnier claim that Goodbye Dry is 'rich but non-greasy' and isn't heavy on your skin. Which would be pretty ideal, wouldn't it?

What do I think? My favourite of the 3 samples, by far. It's a dainty pink cream that is, true, very lightweight. It smells absolutely delightful (think fresh!) and absorbed into my skin immediately. I put it on just before I went to bed and my face was still very soft and supple in the morning, which makes a change as it's usually as rough as sandpaper. I recommend this highly!

Start Afresh

Start Afresh is made for those who have normal to dry skin so I decided to this second as my face was feeling considerably better after using Goodbye Dry.
What does it do? This is probably the moisturiser that's designed for 'everybody', as it doesn't boast to solve any major skin issues. It's one to use for the everyday.
What's in it? Ingredients include Blue Lotus extract and, again, Mannose.
The texture? Pretty much the same as Goodbye Dry. It claims to be light weight, easy to absorb, and non-greasy.

What do I think? Unfortunately, this was my least favourite. Firstly, I was put off by the overpowering sickly, sweet smell which I could still pick up on when I woke up in the morning. Normally I like to catch a whiff of my skin care/ perfume but I actually felt like I had been smacked in the face with a floral bouquet. Not only this but my face felt very, very greasy the whole time it was on. However, just because it wasn't suited for my skin, doesn't mean it won't be for you!

Protect & Glow

This is the one that I wasn't that fussed about using as I'm not a massive fan of 'illuminating' products. I fear they'll make my skin look oily! This is made for those who want to keep skin looking glowing but also protected.
What does it do? It claims to do just that really, it's also designed for 'normal' skin, which is another reason why I wasn't sure about using it as I definitely don't have normal skin. Claims to keep you looking healthy, radiant and protected.
What's in it? Lemon extract and Mannose.
The texture? It says to be oil-free and 'extremely lightweight'.

What do I think? It's alright, but definitely not my first choice. Despite the claims, my skin felt a little bit heavy after using it so I knew that it wasn't for me. I also wasn't fond of the light reflecting pearls but I imagine it would suit someone of a slighter darker skin because it made me look like Casper The Friendly Ghost. It smells good though!

Overall I like idea of Moisture Match, I also like the fact they sent me a variety of samples ranging from very dry to normal skin so I could decide for myself which was most suited for me. Obviously a lot of hard work and time have gone into developing these little treats and the devil is in the detail in every one of these moisturisers, even down to matching the pastel pinks, blues and lemon creams to the packaging. I like this, I like the detail. I will definitely be looking into purchasing Goodbye Dry after I've used up my current skin cream and I would really like to hear if any of you have tried the other two in this collection!

Mani Monday & Jungle Fever!

Hello (: Jenn here!
We're really sorry about our lack of posts lately, we've both been stupidly busy so you'll just have to forgive us for the time being.
Got a double whammy for you today, with a nail polish review (it's Manicure Monday!) and a quick outfit post which I haven't done for ages because the weather is so messed up ):

Today our manicure comes in the form of Sinful Colors, an American brand which Boots stores all over the UK have now claimed. I've never heard of this brand or of their collection before so after spotting this absolutely lovely shade, and after seeing they are only £1.99 each, I was quick to grab it.

The colour of this caught my eye immediately, I don't have many greens in my own collection but this looked very refreshing and fit for spring. This one is called Pistachio and is slightly more vibrant than these photos suggest.

Pro's
  • It's £1.99 and the bottle is quite big so you're getting a lot for it.
  • Highly pigmented, needs 1-2 coats (2 is really pushing it though)
  • Dries reasonably quick, give it about 5 minutes.
  • I've done loads today and it still hasn't chipped, yay!
Con's
  • Quite a gloopy consistency, so you have to make extra effort to wipe off the excess before applying.
  • Leaves slight track marks but it's quite easy to fix so that's not a massive issue.

I really, really like this nail polish and I like it even better because it's so cheap and it doesn't lack in quality which most expensive brands seem to. There are 70 shades in the Sinful collection and they all look beautiful. You can find them here or at your local Boots store. Go, run!
I also mentioned at the beginning of this post that I have a look for you, but it's just a really quick one (: So, it's stopped snowing (finally!) and the sun is starting to come out, kinda, and I can now go out without wearing my biggest coat which makes me very happy.

Leopard print batwing t shirt- Topshop
Jeggings- Next
Brown leather boots- River Island

Brown leather jacket- New Look

Alright, so it's not warm enough to go out completely without cover but my favourite leather jacket does the job perfectly. (I also wore it in this post!)
You can find it here in brown and mink for only £39.99.

Have a lovely day (:

Mani Monday! Nails Inc 'St. James'

I've got quite a love/ hate relationship with Nail Inc, here's why. Their average bottle is about £11, right? That's pretty standard for a high-end nail varnish these days and I wouldn't mind paying this in the slightest if the quality matched up to price but I just find that it doesn't. I'm not a pampered princess, I don't (and can't) sit around the whole day doing absolutely nothing, so I'm quite hands on. I have found with every Nails Inc polish i've used that it chips at the most mundane of things, like washing up for example. This isn't good enough for varnish over a £10 (I personally don't even think that's good enough for anything over £5!)
But anyway, I got St James free in a magazine quite a while ago and the colour is divine. This is where the love for this brand comes from, as all of their shades are beautiful. So, throwing my issues aside for the moment, I thought I'd give this a go.
 Pro's
  • Every girl should have this shade in their collection. It's just the perfect red, end of.
  • Glides on without any problems. I'm quite a messy one when it comes to applying nail varnish but this went on with 3 swipes of the brush, without any of it going on my fingers.
  • Highly pigmented. I've only applied one coat on all of these photos, it doesn't need any more.
  • Because of the above, you don't need to use a lot so you get a lot of the bottle.
  • The smell isn't overpowering. I hate walking back into the room where I've just painted my nails and being hit with a cloud of varnish toxins and this doesn't happen at all.
Con's
  • You know that rant I had at the beginning of this post? Well I was totally justified as, yet again, it chipped. Instantly. I let it dry completely and I even applied a top coat and the second I put my hands into the sink to wash up, it chips.
It's a shame because I love this colour, it's one of my favourites out of all my nail polishes, which I why I continue to use this. It also helps that this was free, and I didn't pay £11 for it. To say I have polishes that I payed £1 for that stay on for days before I see any sign of damage proves my point about the quality of Nails Inc.
I would love to know if any of you have the same problem as I have!

Beauty buys & smokey eyes

Here's what I've been up to for the past week or two.

#1 I went into Superdrug for one thing… I’ve seen this got2b styling powder everywhere so finally decided to give it a try. It does create volume that lasts for a while but it feels a bit sticky for my liking. The Superdrug’s own vitamin E body scrub is amazing - really big thick beads that feel like a massage when you rub them in, and I can’t quite put my finger on the smell but I can’t get enough of it. Decided it was time to look less like a ghost for the summer (fingers crossed there’s going to be one). I don’t get the attraction of smelling like food but I can’t find a better tan than the cocoa butter one, it always turns out perfectly even and doesn’t go patchy after a few days / showers. I treat this more like a self tan than a gradual tanner though, definitely wouldn’t use it every day. Needed a new liquid liner, this Collection one’s okay but no match for my usual Rimmel Exaggerate.

#2 and I couldn’t resist these new natural texture lashes from Eyelure! I bought them mainly out of curiosity as I thought they’d look either amazing or terrible. They are amazing if you like your makeup messy like I do, a little too thick for me though so I’m dying to try the thinner ones.

#3 I wore them to two of my friends’ joint birthday a few weeks ago, along with a new leather-look skater dress I’m obsessed with.

#4 On Wednesday I went to a Mexican themed party for my friend’s fiancé’s birthday- tequila is my favourite drink ever so I was in heaven. Had so much fun trying on various moustaches, playing battle shots and we even had a piñata!! No photos though unfortunately as I charged my camera but forgot my memory card :(

#5 I bought the dark red carnations to wear in my hair to the party, when I put the rest in a vase I realised I’d forgotten how happy fresh flowers make me! Couldn’t resist the bright yellow ones when I saw them.

#6 This is Chanel Illusion d’Ombré in Mirifique, it’s a granite grey cream eyeshadow that you can build up to be almost black, and it’s very very sparkly. I’ve only ever worn it once before on New Year’s Eve but it’s so so so gorgeous.

#7 I used it to do a smokey eye look, building it up towards the lash line and blending it out across my eye lid. Mine has gone a little dry so it wasn't the easiest to work with, it took some blending but was well worth the effort.

#8 Here I am wearing it.

#9 I went to rock night \m/ with my friends and my boyfriend and his friends, plenty of drinking and dancing and it lasted all night ;)

I hope you're all well! I have deadlines and exams coming up but I'll try and post whenever I can.

Much love

Sophie xxx

A few beauty buys and Max Factor Colour Elixer review!

So, it's meant to be Mani Monday right? Right. However, I've done quite a few polish reviews and all things nails lately so I thought I would share you some of my latest beauty buys and give you a little review to read. You'll forgive me, i'm sure.
It's actually been quite a while since I purchased anything hair and make up wise so I thought i'd treat myself whilst on my break at work on Saturday and this is what I ended up with:

From left to right/ top to bottom

Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless Foundation: I've currently been wearing, either, a beauty balm or Body Shop Virgin Liquid Mineral foundation but i've been feeling a little run down lately so my skin is being a pain. I had a free sample of this in a magazine quite a few months ago and used it all up pretty much straight away, it's just so good. I'll do a proper review of this in weeks to come, but basically it's a 3 in 1 foundation (a primer, concealer and a foundation) so it's covers EVERYTHING. Superdrug/ £11.99

Collection Supersize Fat Lash Mascara: I've fallen out of love with my previous mascara and I needed a quick, cheap fix before I did proper research for a new one. This was the result. I've no idea how this is going to turn out so proper review soon! Boots/ £2.99

Lee Stafford Sunkissed Lightening Spray:  I love ombre, I really do, but i've been terrified of actually doing it myself with those box kits because I just don't think the whole blonde block of colour will do much for my ginger hair. I came across this a couple of weeks ago and I thought I would give it a go. It's a spray that permanantly lightens your hair GRADUALLY. Which means I have a lot of control about how much I stick in it/ how light it will go. I'm so excited to start using this so expect my full length review as soon as possible. Boots/ £7.99

Batiste Dry Shampoo/ Vibrant & Red: Bit of an impulse buy. I am not Batiste's number one fan in the slightest, I would actually go as far as to say I don't like it at all. BUT, the dry shampoo I was using was leaving white residue everywhere and, quite frankly, the grey hair look isn't pretty. I picked this up right at the till because I wanted to see if the hint of red would solve my problem. We'll see. Superdrug/ £1.99

Collection Lasting Perfect Concealer: I've heard so many good things about this product, I just had to buy it. This is for when I don't want to wear foundation and I just want a cover up. Can't wait to try! Superdrug/ £3.69

Max Factor Colour Elixer Giant Lip Pencil in Passionate Red:

There isn't much information on this product anywhere, so I was intrigued when I got one of these free when I spent over £10 on other Max Factor products at Superdrug (my foundation was £11.99)
There are 6 shades in this collection, including this one Passionate Red. The others are Blossom, Hot Chocolate, Princess Rose, Subtle Coral and Vibrant Pink, and they're £6.99 each. It is described as 'a chunky pencil with a precision sculpted tip for defined application and an intense slick of glossy colour', however as you may see from the photo above, it's not really a 'scultped tip' but more of a chubby one.
I'm not overally sure on this product, it just lacks quite a lot of finesse which is a shame really. First of all, it's not very pigmented as I needed about 2-3 coats before it covered my whole lip evenly. Secondly, it has no lasting power at all, I don't even know how to describe this, you've only got to touch it and half it comes off. I did a 4 hour shift on Sunday and it hardly lasted an hour. Thirdly, it has that weird, gritty feeling that most of Max Factor lip products have (well, from what i've tried) and so it doesn't feel that nice. And lastly, I still don't know what it's trying to achieve! Is it a gloss, a lipstick, or a balm? It goes on like a standard lipstick would but it has the texture of a too-sticky gloss. Hm. Not Impressed.
The only thing I like about this product is the deep cherry colour, which is the only reason I would wish to continue using it. However, I wouldn't pay £6.99 for it so i'm glad I had the chance to use this for free.

Left- Just applied. Right- After ONE SIP of water.
I would love to know if any of you have used this product too, and how you felt about it!

February Glossybox product reviews: Rituals body lotion, Figs & Rouge balm, MeMeMe Beat the Blues, Miners lipstick & Micabella eyeshadow

Hello lovelies!
February 2013 Glossybox
Sophie here, I thought I’d update you on my love affair with Glossybox. This will be a review of February’s products, I realise we’re in April now but I wanted to use them for a while first so I can do a properly informed review. If you want the full story then be sure to check out my previous posts – All AboutGlossybox for everything you need to know and The Big Skincare Review for my thoughts on my January box!

Last month’s box was Valentine’s themed, all pretty in pink instead of the usual, which was really nice as it arrived a few days before Valentine’s day. Here’s what I got inside:

From left to right: Rituals Magic Touch Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk body cream; Figs & Rouge balm in Rambling Rose; a cheeky lolly; MeMeMe Beat The Blues highlight in Pearl Pink;  Miners Cosmetics lipstick in Dreamer; Micabella Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow Shimmer Powder in Deep Secrets.

I feel a monster post coming on so feel free to skim or skip to the ones you’re interested in!

First up: Rituals Magic Touch Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk body lotion

Rituals Magic Touch Cherry Blossom & Rice Milk Body Cream
Rituals body cream swatch

What does it do? This is a Rituals best seller. Like most body lotions, it promises to nourish your skin and leave it silky smooth and soft.

What’s in it? This product contains rice milk which is known for its soothing qualities, cherry extract to make it smell delicious, and antioxidants which are always invited to the party.

How does it smell? Really rather lovely. Kind of sweet but not in a sickly way, I’d describe it as quite deep and rich. You can definitely pick up the cherry but it doesn’t smell at all artificial.

What’s it like? I’ve been using this product after I shower: massaging it into my skin after I’ve dried off. The texture is creamy, velvety and really soft. The bottle describes it as ‘rich’ and ‘whipped’ and I’d definitely agree. The swatch above shows the product just as its come out of the tube, and to the right of that is where I rubbed it in a little; I doubt you can even see where I rubbed it in as it sinks straight into the skin like a dream! A little goes a long way with this product, it spreads across the skin really well and is almost instantly absorbed, meaning you’re not left feeling sticky or greasy which is a huuuuge plus for me. You also really pick up the scent as you apply it which is lovely.

Does it work? I wouldn’t say it’s changed my life but my skin definitely feels lovely after using it, nice and soft and moisturised. It’s a really gentle product so I especially like to apply it to my legs after shaving, as the rice milk seems to soothe them. You do pick up the occasional whiff of the product throughout the day if you applied it in the morning, which I really like.

How much? £15 for 200ml from rituals.com (click here) or £5 for 70ml (click here) if you want to give it a little try first. I got the 70ml version in my Glossybox and £5 off a £25 Rituals spend.

All in all: I like it. It’s a thousand times better than the Duck Island body lotion I received in my January Glossy (reviewed here), mainly due to the much nicer smell and the way my skin absorbs it so readily. As it spreads so well, a little goes a long way and I haven’t yet run out of my 70ml tube despite using it a good few times a week, so I think the price is reasonable for a 200ml bottle as it should last for a long time. I’m really glad that this came in my box, it’s a lovely little product and I’ll definitely think about repurchasing.

Figs and Rouge Balm in Rambling Rose

Figs & Rouge Organic Balm in Rambling Rose
Lips: Figs & Rouge Balm in Rambling Rose

What does it do? This balm will nourish, soothe and hydrate dry areas – put it anywhere you like!

What’s in it? Seed oil, fruit butter, fruit oil and flower oil seem to be the main ingredients. The balm is organically produced and petroleum free.

How does it smell? As you’d expect, it’s quite natural smelling due to the natural ingredients. It smells deliciously of rose and something else I can’t quite put my finger on but reminds me of my childhood and makes me very happy.

What’s it like? Fantastic! The consistency is impossible to describe but I really love it. It feels kind of textured at first, but then when you rub it in it melts into buttery softness. It sinks into the skin almost immediately without even a hint of stickiness -  it does last slightly longer on the lips but feels lovely. Sorry about the awful picture, I just took a quick one to show you how it looks on the lips, please ignore the rest of my face! It’s pretty much invisible, it doesn’t alter the colour of your lips but just leaves the slightest hint of shine.

Does it work? Yes! I really love this product. You may or may not know how much I struggle with dry lips, most balms dry them out even further. After struggling for years to find a balm that doesn’t, Glossybox have given me two in two months! (This one, and Jason Lips Bee Healthier which I raved about here). This makes my lips feel soft and lovely, and really hydrated. I’ve used it as a base for lip sticks and glosses and it really helps prevent them from drying out my lips, but I also think it looks really pretty just on its own. I’ve had a bit of a dry nose recently due to blowing it so much in the cold weather, and one application of this sorted me right out!

How much? £3.49 for 8ml from Lovelula. Some flavours are also available from Boots but are more expensive at £4.99. I got the full sized version in my Glossybox which I’m really rather chuffed about.

All in all: This is a gorgeous little product and I love it. It’s one of the few balms ever to not make my lips even drier, it eats dry skin for breakfast and smells like angels bringing you bouquets of roses. The price is really good as a little goes a long way so it’ll last, and it’s all pure and natural and organic and lovely. It also comes in various other flavours – I’m really glad I got Rambling Rose but I'm definitely tempted to try the others too.  The packaging is also really pretty and vintage-esque so it’ll be a nice little addition to your purse or makeup bag. I will, without shadow of a doubt, be repurchasing this product and definitely recommend you give it a try (or at least give it a smell, mmmm).

MeMeMe Beat The Blues in Pearl Pink

MeMeMe Beat the Blues Highlighter / Illuminator in Pearl Pink
MeMeMe Beat the Blues Pearl Pink swatch

What does it do? This is designed to illuminate and highlight your complexion, giving you that lovely healthy dewey glow.

What’s in it? The ingredients list is quite difficult to read against the pale pink of the product, and even more difficult to understand! However, as it’s makeup rather than a skincare product and I don’t have sensitive skin, I’m not overly concerned with what’s in it (obviously do check if you have sensitive skin, though).

What’s it like? I was over the moon to find this in my Glossybox as I’ve been dying to try it ever since I discovered and subsequently lusted after Benefit High Beam. I’ve only ever swatched High Beam and not used it properly, so I can’t do an in-depth comparison but I do think this is an excellent dupe. It’s the same pearly, iridescent pink as High Beam and about a quarter of the price at £5.50. (High Beam will set you back around £20, thumbs down.) The only reason I hadn’t tried this sooner is that the Plymouth branches of Superdrug decided to stop selling MeMeMe. The product comes in a little pot with a brush in the lid like a nail polish, and the consistency is quite thin so it’s really easy to blend in, but still buildable.

Does it work? Yes it does. It has the most beautiful effect on the skin – it really makes it look fresh and glowing and lovely. I tend to keep the focus on my skin for daytime and keep my eyes fairly bare, so I use this product pretty much every day on my cheekbones, brow bones and bridge of my nose, as highlighters also have the effect of sculpting the face by bring out areas they are applied to. The swatch picture shows how it looks straight from the brush, and then how it looks after being blended in a little. Sometimes I apply to my cheeks straight from the brush, but I apply it to the back of my hand then take some up on my fingertip if I want to be a little more precise or use a little less product. You can use the brush in the lid for application but not blending as it carries too much product, but it blends so well it doesn’t really matter whether you use your finger or another brush (I use fingers for quickness). Don’t be put off by the pink – you can see from the rubbed in swatch that it comes out only slightly pink toned. Obviously on your face you’d be blending it in a lot more and it would mix slightly with your foundation – once you’ve done this it gives a lovely subtle shine that picks up beautifully in the light.

How much? £5.50 for 12ml from mememecosmetics.co.uk (click here!) which is cheaper than I thought. Glossybox / MeMeMe were kind enough to give me a full sized bottle and 20% off my next one!

All in all: I love this product, it’s become an everyday essential of mine. It has a gorgeous effect on my skin and is really easy to use. The price was a really pleasant surprise, I was expecting it to be closer to £10 than £5! I definitely definitely recommend trying this if you’re after a nice highlighter / illuminator, it’s brilliant at creating a subtle glow when you blend it into foundation but is very buildable if you wanted a more dramatic effect for the evening. I haven’t given its Benefit counterpart a proper try yet, but I’m thinking about ordering a sample so I can do a proper comparison – let me know if you’d like to see that!

p.s. If you like products like this then you’ll love this MeMeMe collection. For £15 you get this Pearl Pink highlighter, an Oyster Gold highlighter resembling Moon Beam (or maybe Sun Beam?) by Benefit, and two dupes for Benefit’s Benetint and Posietint cheek / lip stains, all for less than one of the Benefit alternatives!

Miner’s Cosmetics Lipstick in Dreamer

Miners Cosmetics Lipstick in Dreamer
Miners Cosmetics Lipstick in Dreamer swatch

What’s it like? This lipstick is much more glittery than the pictures pick up, in both the stick and the swatches. It’s a very very cool toned pink with purple undertones, much cooler than it looks in the photos. Swatching it lightly gives a really pretty sheer colour, and it’s easily buildable and blendable to get a stronger colour.

Does it work? NO. It looks pretty to swatch but this does not translate onto the lips at all. It also feels quite creamy and soft on your arm but really plasticy and horrible on the lips. Everything dries my lips out so that’s to be expected but this is much worse than other lipsticks – instantly drying even with a balm underneath. I hate to use the word chavvy but that’s the only way I can describe it – you know that cool pink, frosted type colour? That’s how it looks no matter how much or little you use, no matter how much you blend it. Blergh!

How much? £3.99 for 4g supposedly, but I can't seem to find it on the Miners site!? The best I can do is this Amazon link for £4.99 if you REALLY want to try it (you probably don't).

All in all: This was the only product in my Feb Glossy that I really really disliked. I definitely won’t be using the rest of it let alone repurchasing! I really can’t describe how horrible the colour is, but even if you’re a fan of frosty pinks I just think it looks and feels really cheap. Not impressed!

Micabella Cosmetics Mineral Eyeshadow / Shimmer Powder in Deep Secrets

Micabella Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow in No. 53, Deep Secrets
Micabella Mineral Eye Shadow, Deep Secrets swatch
What does it do? It’s a shimmery eyehsadow.

What’s in it? This is made of 100% ‘mica’ which is a natural crystal / mineral.

What’s it like? This really is the most beautiful eyeshadow, and no matter what I do I don’t think the photos will ever do it justice! It’s a stunning medium bronzey-gold, I’d describe it as an antique gold colour, and the light picks up tiny particles of copper, bronze, gold and silver toned shimmer. The powder itself is soft and velvety to touch, and can be blended out for a subtle shadow or layered up for a bolder, more solid colour (see swatch). You could apply this with your finger if you wanted a softer look, or a damp brush to really bring the colour out (both swatches were applied dry). As it’s a loose pigment, I definitely recommend tapping off your brush and taking care not to pick up too much product as it’s more difficult to get an even finish if you start off by applying a large amount to a concentrated area, especially if you wanted a softer look. Having said that, it is definitely blendable and if you take a little care with it, you can achieve a beautiful smokey effect just with this one product by starting out with a little, blending it out, then gradually layering closer to the lashline. The colour really is beautiful and very highly pigmented, and will look stunning against all eye colours.

How much? £14.95 for 2.5g from micabella.co.uk, (click here!) Glossybox gave me 1g in my box, plus a special discounted price of £8.99 for the full sized eyeshadow for a limited time.

All in all: This really is a beautiful product, I love the fact that it’s made entirely of a natural mineral and the colour payoff is excellent. There’s a lot of ways to work with it as it’s a loose powder, and can give a really pretty subtle look or a more dramatic colour when layered up; I can’t wait to wear it in the summer as I think it will look amazing with a tan. Unfortunately it is quite pricey, although I suppose it depends on how much you usually spend on eyeshadows as it’s probably a similar price to Mac or BareMinerals making £8.99 a really good deal, so I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted!  I think for the quality and fact that its pure crystal the price is justified – I’m not sure I would use enough of it so often as to warrant me buying another pot as I’ll probably save it for the odd occasion rather than use it regularly. I think I’ll see how I get on with my current pot, though I’ll definitely miss it once it’s gone!

And finally I got a little Glossybox heart lollypop for Valentines Day! Looking a little worse for wear now - it still hasn’t been eaten as I don’t like them, but I thought it was cute all the same!

So that concludes my February Glossybox products review! Thank you for reading which ever bit you read, and if you read it all the way through then well done, you’re the best person ever. Do let me know what you thought of your Glossybox in Feb and what products you got in there, or what you think of these products if you’ve used any of them!

Kisses and hugs

MUA Nails & Fur Effects!

Afternoon guys, it's Jenn here (:
Firstly, I hope you all had an absolutely lovely Easter bank holiday! Unfortunately, I was at work all day Friday, Saturday and Monday so I couldn't enjoy it as much as I would of liked. However, I did get the Sunday to scoff my face, spend some quality time with my parents and bake my heart out.

L-R Top to Bottom- chocolate hamper from my mum and dad, my hot cross muffins, my chocolate and oreo brownies, and my sweet gift bags from Rosie and Maisy!
Right, on with the show! I have some spare time this morning/ afternoon so I thought I'd review these two little products from MUA. The first is a new shade of nail varnish called Natural Days. I actually bought this because I thought it would be a perfect pairing with the Fluffy Puff Fur Effects, which is the second product i'm reviewing!

 Quite a straightforward review here.
 Pro's
  • A lovely, on trend, ice cream shade of pink.
  • Highly pigmented. I applied two coats but it really didn't need it at all.
  • Fast drying.
  • Hard to chip. I've done loads of house work today and my nails can't usually take it but it's all still on.
  • £1!
Con's
  • The brush appears to be made out of plastic, and the bristles don't create a very nice feeling on the nail.
  • Because of the above, makes quite a few track lines so you have to make extra effort to cover them.

I do think this is a great varnish for the price, I actually can't believe I only paid a pound for it. I've paid much more for other varnishes that haven't been half as good as this so i'll definitely be trying the other shades (:

I've wanted one of these the second I knew they were being released and I visited my local Superdrug for weeks until they stocked it. It's taken me this long to review it because I worried I was going to be disappointed with it, which is the case for most products that have been hyped up. But alas, I love it!
First of all, it's so simple to apply. MUA say to apply two coats of your nail varnish and then, either, shake some powder into the lid or take off the sifter and use it straight from the pot. I was feeling wild this morning so I chose the latter.
I applied it to an accent nail instead of covering each and every one of my nails because I didn't want to go overboard. I'm impressed with the effect. It isn't too garish, messy and dried instantly so I didn't have to wait around for ages trying not to touch anything.
I also fretted about what would happen when I washed up or got into the bath and shower, would it go all soggy and look absolutely revolting? It didn't, it hardly made any change to it at all actually and, again, dried instantly.

(Please ignore the state of my hands and fingers, work does bad things to them!)
Overall, I am very happy with both of these products and I can't to get my mits on the other shades in both collections.

MUA Magnetic Nails- Mayfair

I adore MUA so after a shopping trip with our dearest Amber, I purchased this little varnish. I've never tried any magnetic polishes before so I was quite eager to use this and I'm so, so glad I bought it. There are 6 shades in this collection, including this one called Mayfair. there are two other 'swiggle effects' which are Regent Street and Park Lane and 3 circle effects in Picadilly Street, Kings Road and Leicester Sqaure.

I picked this dark, rich shade of blue as I don't really have many varnishes in this colour and it was a nice change from all the pale pinks and nudes at the moment. From the photo it looks quite glittery but it definitely isn't (if you wanted a glitter go for Kings Road or Picadilly Circus), it's actually quite shimmery but the magnet seems to turn it more into a glossy finish which just adds to the effect.

To Apply: 'Just apply the magnetic glitter to your nail, and while the polish is still wet, hover the magnetic brush cap over your nail for five seconds. Be careful not to touch the polish though!'

It was literally that easy (trying to read the super fine instructions on the back of the bottle was more difficult!) It was also quite pigmented for a super cheap varnish as well which was a nice surprise and it also didn't take years to dry so I was super impressed.

I will definitely be purchasing the rest of this collection. The application process was effortless, it dried pretty much a minute after it was one, and the overall effect is lovely. Personally, I think it looks a bit like a base to a galaxy nail and I'll be playing around with this more in the future.
So impressed and a must-buy for £3.50 from Superdrug.
You can see the rest of the varnishes here.

Pro's
  • Gorgeous, glossy finish.
  • Quick drying.
  • Highly pigmented.
  • Good quality magnet to create the 'squiggle effect'.
Con's (I'm being picky for this because I actually can't find a solid con)
  • Slightly pricey for MUA... But it's worth it.
  • Hard to read instructions on the back.
